Once Upon a Million Miles is an exhibition that seeks to balance the prevailing narratives about Sudan, which are often tied to war and conflict in media saturated with images of struggle and negativity. The exhibition title reflects the pride in Sudan's past as a nation known for its vast expanse before the separation of South Sudan. This exhibition offers a rare opportunity to celebrate the positive aspects of Sudan and the resilience of its people.

The exhibition honors the determination and creativity of Sundanese artists, whether long-time residents or recent arrivals in Doha. These artists who have become refugees overnight, remain untainted by pervasive media narratives, offering fresh perspectives and unfiltered expressions of hope. “Once Upon a Million Miles” serves as a beacon of hope, reminding viewers of the beauty and potential inherent in Sudan inviting them to appreciate the positive facets of Sudanese culture and diversity, both within the country’s revised borders and beyond.
