Hilda Hiary – She was born in Amman, Jordan 1969. She earned a degree in Political Science from the University of Jordan 1990, while simultaneously being a member of the University of Jordan Art Workshop for four years, exhibiting her paintings in multiple countries and galleries before continuing her studies at Al-Zaytoonah University, Amman, where she obtained a degree in Fine Arts with a specialization in printmaking 2004.
Hiary’s style is distinguished by a blend of abstract, expressionist, pop, and primitive art schools. Her compositions are strongly characterized by numerous techniques accumulated in a single work, which has distinguished her style by challenging stereotypes. Her works focus on political and social themes that have emerged in previous exhibitions, expressing women in war and post-war contexts, portraying them as strong, resilient women capable of effecting change. Her style relies on dynamic graphic elements such as line, pattern, and color.
In addition to being a painter, she has also produced murals, video art, and installations, with her works exhibited internationally. Since the mid-1990s, she has participated in solo and group exhibitions in museums such as: Micro Museum, New York, USA; San Pedro Museum, Brazil; Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts; Algiers Museum; Saint Martin, London. She has received Second Asian Art Biennale Award, Bangladesh, First Prize in Installation Art at Cairo International Biennale, and First Prize at Tehran International Biennale.
