"Yellow Hoodie" Throughout this series of paintings and drawings, Monawar uses repetition to convey the profound trauma experienced under the settler-colonial regime in occupied Palestine. The child in the Yellow Hoodie becomes a symbol representing the immense loss resulting from the ongoing conflict. To contrast the distressing theme, Monawar places his chosen elements against a backdrop of a clear blue sky with white clouds. This sky symbolizes purity and serenity, even as the figure of the child is removed and reimagined.
