Humans have employed pictures to express the ineffable since the dawn of civilisation, beginning with primitive cave paintings and later, through the development of playful artistic movements such as dada, surrealism, and graffiti art. Even the very simple emoticons we use in our daily digital communications express our emotions without words. Delving into their imaginations, these artists tease out their own wordless responses into compelling compositions to share unique stories.
