al markhiya gallery presents Print Friends, an exhibition of contemporary graphic design, bringing together artists and designers whose practice explores print, typography, script, and graphic culture as tools of archival memory and cultural storytelling.

For this exhibition, each artist was invited to work solely in screen printing, responding to Yousef Ahmad’s oil painting Arab Nation Street. Limited to creating a single work, the artists were also restricted to using only red, green, and black in their composition. Each artist approached printing as an archival practice — a way of holding onto, and reinterpreting, a shared visual and cultural reference point.

Print Friends fosters a diverse conversation between classical and contemporary visual language, inviting artists from different backgrounds and disciplines to respond to the same source material through the single, unified medium of print. Together, their works highlight the continuing evolution of graphic culture and its ability to connect place, history, and the ongoing life of language itself.
