The themes in Al-Tajer’s compositions are drawn from stories founded in Iraqi myths and legends. Deeply influenced by the elements of water, land, and fertility, Al-Tajer has also explored the complicated and brutal landscape of war. His surrealist portraits tell stories that evoke power, grief, humor, and passion. Al-Tajer has been living in Jordan since 2005 and has held many solo exhibitions in Iraq, Jordan, Bahrain, Lebanon, and Oman. He has worked as a fashion designer for the Iraqi Fashion House, a painter for a number of Iraqi magazines such as Al-Mizmar and Afaaq Arabiya, and also a film producer. He is currently working on completing a second monumental piece, based on the Babylonian Epic of Creation.
