“Rebellious Paper,” is an exclusive online exhibition of work by Lebanese Artist, Mansour El Habre. Born in Lebanon in 1970, Mansour El Habre works with painting and printmaking. In his practice, the artist has translated his experiences coming of age in Lebanon.
Masour draws on his memories of inherent turmoil during war, conjuring up the flashes of anxiety and fear in response to present moments, turning them into lasting memories. His compositions combine abstraction with contrast and texture with vivid colour pallet that evokes a radical energy.
Mansour’s paintings explore a sense of drama and violence – “.Art is a confrontation with the ugliness of reality. I am an eye that observes the world around it and projects it onto the white surface.” He explains.
Mansour El Habre lives and works in Beirut and teaches at the Academie Libanaise des Beaux – Arts, one of the city’s leading art schools. In addition to exhibiting regularly in some of Lebanon’s foremost art spaces, Mansour has been featured in galleries and festivals in the Gulf, Europe and North America. Since 1993, he has participated in individual and collective exhibitions in Lebanon, Geneva, London, Washington D.C., Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Doha
