Al markhiya gallery is please to present this special exhibition showcasing the work and life partnership of Egyptian artists, Rabab Nemr and Mostafa Abdel Moity, at Doha Firestation.

In the dedication of his first book Abdel Moity underlined the role that Rebab Nemr has played in his life and career. “To my life companion on the rugged roads of art. You were the one behind the idea of documenting my lifelong artistic experience in befitting publications. It surprised me that you had preserved many of my early sketches throughout my academic studies, which I didn’t even remember. All the credit goes to you.”

The couple have shared a special loving relationship for decades, and the effects of their collaborative magic is deeply embedded in their art works. In Nemr’s paintings she reveals the couple’s intimate partnership in symbolic narratives that feature many different protagonists, such as two humming birds on a twig, or a couple embracing under a tree. The same applies to the love exchanges that Mostafa Abdel Moity has crafted into his compositions since the 1960’s. Looking at their works side by side, one feels as though Nemr and Moity are exchanging messages to each other, making a promise that their love will remain a strong foundation anchoring them throughout their life and art.

This exhibition explores the depth of the couple’s connection in daily life, expressed through their artistic practice. It is a diary of love, a fantastic journey they continue to share together
