40 Minus is an important initiative in the annual programming of al markhiya gallery. Through this series the gallery features work by Arab artists below the age of 40 whose artistic practice shows considerable promise. 40 Minus encourages young artists to develop their craft by offering them a professional exhibition experience and the opportunity to work with skilled curators. It features the work of two Qatari Artists, Ahmed Al-Jufairi and Fatima Mohammed.

Fatima Mohammed works in a range of mixed media, printmaking, and installation art. A graduate of VCU-Arts with a BA in painting and printmaking, her works have been exhibited internationally, featured in countries such as the UK, Russia and the USA.
Ahmed Al-Jufairi is deeply influenced by his cultural surroundings, using a range of mediums and a wide colour palette, his award-winning work has been presented in four solo exhibitions to date. Al-Jufairi is also a past artist-in-residence at Cité Internationale der Art, Paris.
